TuJu App — Malaysia's Highway Navigation App
TuJu is Malaysia's official highway navigation app, built by the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) together with Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd. It launched on 26 November 2025, and it gives you precision navigation, real-time toll charges, live traffic updates, and access to 33 LLM highway CCTV cameras — all tuned specifically for Malaysian expressways. It's free on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
Interest in the app exploded on 21 October 2026, when Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim publicly urged Malaysians to switch from Waze to TuJu over data-security concerns. Searches for "tuju app" hit a record peak that same day. If you're one of the many people now asking what the TuJu app is and whether it's worth downloading, this guide covers features, how it compares with Waze, how to use it, and how to fix it if it's not working.

The name comes from the Malay word tuju, meaning "towards" or "heading to" — fitting for a navigation app.
What can you actually do with the TuJu app?
TuJu looks like any other navigation app on the surface — route details, travel distance, estimated time of arrival. Where it earns its place is the highway-specific stuff Waze and Google Maps simply don't have.
Precision navigation
LLM calls it Precision Navigation: route details, distance, and ETA with an eye on Malaysian highway conditions. It pulls data from LLM itself, highway operators, verified crowd reports, and smart devices along the road network.
Real-time toll charges
This is the feature most drivers rave about. TuJu shows you the total toll charges for your journey before you start driving. No more guessing whether the trip will cost RM8 or RM18. If you're comparing routes, you can see exactly what each one costs in tolls.
33 highway CCTV cameras
You get access to 33 CCTV cameras owned by LLM, so you can check actual road conditions before you leave. These are periodic snapshots, not continuous live video — but when you're deciding whether to drive into the city on a rainy Friday evening, one glance beats a thousand traffic reports.
R&R and petrol station directory
TuJu lists Rest and Service (R&R) areas along your route with facility details: restrooms, surau, food outlets, petrol stations, and EV chargers. If you drive long-distance regularly, knowing which R&R has an EV charger or a working surau matters.
Emergency assistance
The app has built-in emergency assistance. On an unfamiliar highway at night, one tap to reach help is worth more than any feature list.
Incident reporting and MyJalan integration
You can report road incidents directly in the app. It's also integrated with the MyJalan system, so complaints and road information flow straight to the authorities — potholes, damaged signs, and the like. That's what makes TuJu genuinely different: your report reaches the people who maintain the highway.
TuJu app vs Waze: should you switch?
Waze is the app most Malaysians already use, so the honest question is whether TuJu is better enough to switch. Here's the straight comparison.
Toll costs. Waze estimates time; TuJu shows you exact toll charges per trip. If you drive tolled highways daily, this alone is a reason to try it. Our detailed TuJu vs Waze comparison breaks down all seven key differences.
Traffic sources. Waze runs on crowd reports — fast and huge in coverage, but unverified. TuJu mixes official LLM traffic management centre data with crowd reports, so you get more authoritative incident reports.
Highway cameras. Waze has none. TuJu's 33 CCTV cameras let you look at the road yourself before you leave.
Coverage. Waze still wins here. It covers every road in Malaysia, including city streets and kampung roads. TuJu is highway-first — that's where it shines. If your daily drive never touches an expressway, Waze stays the better tool.
Data security. TuJu is a Malaysian government-linked app, so your location data stays with a local entity rather than a foreign company. If that matters to you, TuJu has the edge.
Missing features. TuJu does not support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay at the time of writing — a real gap if you rely on your car's built-in screen.
The practical answer: use TuJu for highway trips (especially long-distance and festive-season travel) and keep Waze for city driving.
Cara guna TuJu app: how to use it step by step
New to the app? Here's the basic flow, including a quick Bahasa version since many of you are searching "cara guna TuJu app".
1. Download the app. Get it free from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. It's published by Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd, the LLM partner company.
2. Open and allow location. The app needs your location to navigate — grant it when asked.
3. Set your destination. Type it in the search bar. The app shows route options with distance, ETA, and total toll charges.
4. Compare tolls. Look at the toll figure on each route before you pick one. On the North-South Expressway, a small detour can save real money.
5. Check the cameras. Before starting, tap the CCTV cameras along your route to see current conditions. Most new users skip this step — it's the app's best trick.
6. Start navigation. Follow the voice and on-screen directions like any navigation app.
7. Report what you see. Spot an accident or debris on the road? Report it in the app — it helps other drivers and reaches the highway operator.
Dalam Bahasa Melayu: muat turun TuJu dari Play Store atau App Store, benarkan akses lokasi, masukkan destinasi, semak tol dan kamera CCTV, kemudian mula navigasi.
Is the TuJu app safe and legit?
Yes. TuJu is a joint venture between the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), a government agency, and Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd, launched publicly by the Works Minister himself. It's not a third-party clone or a side project — it's the official highway app.
On data privacy, it's a Malaysian app tied to a government agency — which is exactly the point the Prime Minister made when he encouraged Malaysians to use it instead of Waze. Like any navigation app, it needs your location to work.
Safety notes: never operate your phone while driving, mount it on a proper holder, and remember the CCTV images are snapshots — they can be a few minutes old.
What drivers say: a quick TuJu app review
The app got heavy promotion during Aidilfitri 2026, when the Deputy Works Minister urged travellers to use it to plan around festive congestion. Drivers generally praise the toll calculator and the R&R directory, with the CCTV cameras as the standout feature.
Common complaints: CCTV images can load slowly, city navigation feels thin next to Waze, and there's no Android Auto or CarPlay support yet. If the app is not working on your phone, it's usually a location-permission or outdated-app issue — fixable in a minute.
Download the TuJu app
TuJu is free for Android and iPhone. Head to our download page for the verified official store links. Only ever download it from the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store listings published under Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd — never from third-party APK sites, which can bundle modified or malicious versions.

The bottom line
TuJu isn't trying to be Waze — it's trying to be something Waze can't be: the highway authority's own window into Malaysian expressways. Exact toll charges, 33 live cameras, a proper R&R directory, and a direct line to the people who fix the roads. Worth the download for anyone who drives highways regularly.

Does anyone know if TuJu works with Apple CarPlay yet? I drive with my phone on the dashboard mount for now but CarPlay would be so much better.
Mei Ling not yet unfortunately. Still phone-only as of this week. I asked on their Facebook page and they said it's planned but no date given.
The CCTV cameras saved me last Friday. Checked the camera near Rawang before leaving and saw the jam building up, took the trunk road instead. 20 mins extra vs 2 hours stuck.
Downloaded after the PM's announcement. It's decent for highways but honestly I still open Waze in the city. The app feels empty once you leave the expressway.
Finally tried the toll calculator on my KL-Seremban run yesterday. Showed RM13.40 total and it matched exactly at the plazas. Waze never did this for me.
